3 Tips to Help You Prepare for a Breast Lift
Without gravity, we would be floating around everywhere. However, you also wouldn’t have to worry about the toll that gravity has on parts of your body like your breasts. As you age, and especially after you breastfeed, your breasts start to sag and lose elasticity. Luckily, with the help of a breast lift, your breasts can be lifted back to where they should be. As an important step in the surgical process, it’s good to know exactly how you can prepare for a breast lift. This article will give you a few tips to make sure that you are ready for your big day. Read on to learn more.
Avoid Anti-Inflammatory Drugs
For at least a few days up to a week before your surgery make sure that you stop taking any anti-inflammatory medications like ibuprofen. Although these drugs are good at what their name indicates, they will also thin out your blood and prevent you from clotting properly both during and following surgery.
If you are a chronic smoker, you may not be a good candidate for this type of surgical procedure. Smoking lowers your body’s ability to heal itself at a fast rate, leaving you more prone to things like infection. If you currently smoke, make sure that you quit far in advance of your surgical procedure.
Get a Baseline Mammogram
Another thing that we encourage our patients to get is a baseline mammogram. A mammogram both before and after your surgery is a great way for us to detect and monitor any abnormal changes in your breast tissue.
Getting a breast lift is an exciting surgery that can make you look like yourself once again.
